Marco Island was the perfect setting for a girl’s trip with my mom and sister. From the moment we arrived, it felt like one of those places where the air moves slower and the views do most of the talking. Endless sky, warm breezes, and that soft coastal light that makes everything feel just a little more relaxed.
We decided to stay in a VRBO for this trip, which gave us plenty of space and beautiful views. There’s something really nice about having a full place to ourselves — morning coffee on the balcony, quiet evenings, and room to spread out after long days in the sun. That part of the stay was wonderful.
What we didn’t fully think through was the distance to the beach.
While the view from our place was lovely, getting to the beach turned into quite the trek — especially when you factor in chairs, towels, bags, and all the little extras that somehow feel essential for a beach day. By the time we arrived, it definitely felt earned. If (and when) we go back, we all agreed we’d choose a hotel right on the water. Being able to walk straight out to the beach would make the experience feel even more effortless and comfortable.
That said, Marco Island offers so much more than just beautiful beaches. One of the highlights of our trip was a dolphin watching tour. Seeing dolphins swimming alongside the boat never gets old, and it added such a special, memorable moment to our time together. It’s one of those experiences that makes you pause, smile, and really appreciate where you are.
We also went parasailing — something that pushed us a little outside our comfort zones in the best way. Floating above the water, taking in the island from a completely different perspective, was unforgettable. The views from up there were incredible, and it added just the right amount of adventure to balance out our slower beach days.
Marco Island ended up being a beautiful mix of relaxation and experience. It gave us time to talk, laugh, and enjoy being together — while still offering plenty to do when we wanted to get out and explore. Between the water, the wildlife, and those wide-open coastal views, it’s easy to see why this island is such a favorite.
It may not have been a perfect stay location-wise, but it was a perfect reminder that sometimes the best trips are about who you’re with — and the memories you bring home.
