Some travel upgrades are loud and exciting — others quietly change everything.

Why I Never Travel Without Packing Cubes

Packing used to be my least favorite part of travel. I would carefully fold everything, zip up my suitcase, and somehow — by the time I landed — it looked like I’d just thrown clothes in and hoped for the best. Shirts were wrinkled, socks had escaped to the bottom of the bag, and finding one specific outfit meant unpacking half my suitcase on the hotel bed.

That all changed when I started using packing cubes.

Now, packing feels calmer and more intentional. Instead of one big space where everything shifts around, my suitcase feels organized — almost like it has little drawers. I know exactly where everything is, which makes living out of a suitcase so much easier, especially on trips where I’m moving from place to place.

One of the biggest benefits I’ve noticed is how much easier it is to stay organized during the trip, not just while packing. I usually separate my clothes by type or by outfit — tops in one cube, bottoms in another, sleepwear and undergarments in their own space. When I need something, I unzip one cube instead of digging through everything. It sounds small, but it makes a huge difference when you’re tired after a travel day or getting ready in a small hotel room.

Packing cubes also help keep clothes neater while traveling. Even after flights, transfers, and being stuffed into overhead bins, my clothes stay folded and in place. I’ve found this especially helpful on longer trips or international travel when I’m packing more versatile outfits and want them to stay presentable without overpacking.

Another thing I love is how easy unpacking becomes. At my destination, I can place the cubes directly into drawers or leave them zipped in my suitcase — no full unpacking required. When it’s time to head home, everything goes right back where it belongs. It keeps that end-of-trip chaos to a minimum, which I always appreciate.

The packing cubes I personally use have been with me for years, but unfortunately I haven’t been able to find the exact ones online anymore. That said, I’ve found a couple of very similar options that should give you the same outcome and organization I rely on.

These compression packing cubes are a great option if you like maximizing space, especially for carry-on travel:

Both options are lightweight, easy to use, and fit seamlessly into a travel routine focused on comfort and ease — exactly what Travel Comfort and Style is all about.

If you’ve ever opened your suitcase mid-trip and felt instantly overwhelmed, packing cubes might be one of the simplest upgrades you can make. They don’t just organize your clothes — they make the entire travel experience feel more relaxed and put-together, from packing at home to unpacking at your destination.
